Mumbai, October 30: India has been a home to world’s fourth highest number of billionaires. Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani led the club of more than 100 super-rich Indians as per a list released by Forbes magazine in March this year. Ambani is a very well known personality in India and across the globe and has been at the top of the second annual ‘Global Game Changers’ list released by Forbes magazine in May this year. The list features influential business leaders from around the world and they have been chosen ‘based on corporate growth, innovation and international presence’, said a report by the magazine.
According to Catch News, a video showing how much Mukesh Ambani’s driver earn in a month went viral on the Internet. The video also reveals the selection procedure of how the driver, for the richest person- Ambani is being selected. Reports by Catch News reveal that for selecting the driver a contract is given to private companies to select the driver and train him. Once the driver is trained, he has to pass so many tests and once he gets selected for the job he is paid Rs 2 lakh per month.
In September 2016, Ambani entered the country’s telecom market with a bang, offering fast internet at dirt-cheap prices. The firm gained 100 million customers in six months and set off a wave of consolidation in the market. Ambani was quoted by Forbes magazine saying, “Anything and everything that can go digital is going digital. India cannot afford to be left behind.” Recent reports say that Mukesh Ambani’s total wealth is around Rs 2,57,900 crore and his luxurious house Antilia is one of the most expensive residential properties in the world. The 4,00,000 sq. ft. building is located on Altamount Road in South Mumbai.
Earlier this month, Forbes India announced its annual list of India’s 100 richest tycoons where Ambani topped the list yet again. With a net worth of $38 billion, Ambani has managed to retain his top position for the tenth consecutive year. As per Forbes India, Ambani saw his wealth increase by 67 percent from $22.7 billion last year, making him the biggest dollar gainer on the list and one of Asia’s top five richest. “RIL’s share price has risen over the last year on the back of the company’s improved refining margins, and the telecom unit Reliance Jio’s massive success in notching up 130 million subscribers since its 2016 launch”, Forbes India stated.
